The Role:
Working as part of the senior leadership team and the wider senior management, this role involves leading all aspects of the company’s warehousing and distribution operations, purchasing functions and service & customer services, as well as helping develop the overall strategy for the business. A key focus on driving efficiency and optimization within the business is key, along with a real excellence in leading & engaging people.
What You’ll be doing…
- Lead the operational functions to set out the strategic plan, direction and delivery thereof.
- Work with the CEO to develop operational activities and strategic goals to support growth.
- Work with the senior leadership team to develop goals that support the growth of the company.
- Lead and manage all aspects of the company’s warehousing and distribution activities to control, deliver and distribute products efficiently.
- Manage the procurement and purchasing functions to ensure the supply chain is robust, resilient and efficient.
- Review performance and operational models to drive optimal performance across operations and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and control the budget for the department, while ensuring that the department has all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial constraints.
- Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability.
- Design and ensure operational policies align with overall strategy and are used/embedded to support overall performance, and that these are reviewed regularly and changes implemented.
- Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
- Report on operational performance and drive performance improvement and issue resolution when performance drops below the stated target levels.
- Ensure agreed requirements for customers are met in an efficient and timely manner.
- Oversee the management of facilities across the group and ensure they are fully functional to support the company’s activity and operations.
- Take the lead in ensuring health and safety compliance in the business, and compliance with all relevant law and regulations.
- Evaluate operational risk and lead quality assurance efforts.
- Lead change management for all developments within the Operations department.
- Oversee all operational team members and build an excellent working culture and environment through supportive mentoring, constructive leadership, team involvement, engagement and setting a clear example of expectations.
- Oversee the management of the facilities across the Group, and ensure they are fully functional to support business activities and operations.
- Manage 3rd party contracts and relations with vendors, partners and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Health & Safety qualification.
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- A full valid driving licence is essential to meet the travel requirements of the role.
Desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics or Supply Chain.
- Previous use of an ERP system (NetSuite).
- Operator’s licence capability or experience
Experience
- Demonstrable experience at a senior level in a similar role and significant experience within supply chain/logistics roles.
- Strong financial understanding with previous budgetary control experience.
- In-depth knowledge of operating models and activity.
- Solid technical background.
- Experience of developing use and performance of WMS (desirable)
Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of industry and fleet regulations and legal guidelines.
- In depth understanding and knowledge of business functions and principles such as Procurement, Supply chain, HR, Finance, Customer Service.
- Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
