The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Commercial Director to join our client, a leader in the manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of year-on-year growth, expertise in GP and EBITDA growth, and experience in developing and executing exit strategies. This individual will possess strong leadership and delegation skills and have the gravitas to command respect in the boardroom.
What you’ll be doing…
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the company’s commercial strategy to drive growth and profitability.
- Work closely with the CEO and board members to shape the company’s vision and strategic direction.
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and market trends to ensure sustainable growth.
Financial Performance:
- Drive GP and EBITDA growth through effective pricing strategies, cost management, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure alignment with the company’s financial goals.
- Monitor and report on key financial metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
Exit Strategy Development:
- Lead the development and execution of exit strategies, including mergers, acquisitions, or sale of the business.
- Work with financial advisors, legal teams, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and profitable transition.
- Communicate and align the exit strategy with the board and senior management team.
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets to expand the company’s footprint.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements that align with the company’s strategic goals.
Leadership and Management:
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to the commercial team, fostering a culture of performance and accountability.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively, ensuring team members have the resources and support needed to succeed.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities.
Boardroom Presence:
- Present commercial and financial reports to the board, providing clear and concise analysis and recommendations.
- Participate in board meetings, contributing to strategic discussions and decision-making.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and credibility in all interactions with board members and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications/Skills
- A degree in business, or a related field is required. An MBA or relevant professional qualification is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Commercial Director or similar senior leadership role in the manufacturing industry.
- Strong track record of year-on-year growth and demonstrated expertise in GP and EBITDA growth.
- Experience in developing and executing exit strategies, including mergers, acquisitions, or business sales.
- Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong financial acumen, with a deep understanding of financial statements, metrics, and performance drivers.
- Exceptional leadership and delegation skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
- Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels.
